The Struggle of Surrender: Full Moon + Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
This third and final summer eclipse has a specific and urgent message. It asks us to carry hope through the unknown. To embrace our bodies, and allow space to heal while laboring birth of a new world. Change doesn't happen through giving up during times of challenge. It happens through moving through - as well as coming up for air.
This full moon is here to support our own inner illumination, reminding us that we can and do shine from morning until night, brighter and brighter with a little dedication to self-care and nurturing. Themes of abusive power have been upended in recent months, highlighted by the deep illuminations of the full moons of 2020 and further sharpened through a season of eclipses. These themes not only find themselves in the larger collective but are also reflected in how we treat ourselves, too. A more conscientious world begins with consistent inner work, as worker bee Capricorn demands. However, it is all too easy to slip into the throes of burnout during this time, both physical and emotional. How we continue to make these summer months matter is found through balance. Work and play. Rest and action. This eclipse in Capricorn is here to shed light on what we may need to be pursuing with greater perseverance, as well as what's necessary to let go of, even temporarily. It's hard to pave a new path forward while our arms are full. We become physically exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed. What we do now will directly effect our stability and growth in Autumn. This deep knowing can ignite us into action, sinking our teeth into the moment with absolute abandon. But the necessity to seek and apply balance remains essential. In becoming blindly dedicated to our pursuits, we run the risk of losing track of them, forgetting what we were even doing in the first place. Stay the course, but weave in a golden thread of self-care practice. Stay consistent, beginning at this lunar peak and tracking your willingness as it continues to wane and wax again throughout the summer and into fall.
Feel these words: your body is sacred. This may not feel like a natural awareness to drop into, after a lifetime of being told to regard it as machinery, simply here to do our bidding. Thankfully, the Capricorn energy that surrounds us gives stern instruction to look at, deeply feel, witness and embody this truth. Our body is our first and final sanctuary, and deserves recognition, worship, and care. How are you offering loving space to your original home? The ways in which we treat our unique and beautiful forms have deep and lasting effects, on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels alike. To accept is to heal, and to change is to heal. Both are necessary when sitting with and listening for the quiet wisdom within our blood and bones, amplified during this lunar event. From this space, we are able to reach outwards and embrace those who help us feel whole and create a space worthy of our magic. Even from a distance we can hold, and be held, too. This is a time to consider change; to challenge ourselves and learn to further lean into our bodies and pay tribute to them, as they support us in all we do as best as they can. Draw forth the light from within, for ourselves and each other and beam that radiance out into the world. Let us take time to witness the power that we all contain as it lights our way. The glimmers of light ahead tell us that we still have a distance to travel but that we deserve rest as the journey unfolds, capable of making such a trek through the weaving of rest and action.
To integrate into this energy from skin to soul, take time to sparkle in your own glow and bask in your light through a bathing ritual, which can be done with a tub, shower, or foot soak. Pick your favorite essential oils and offer a few drops to the water, or anoint yourself by blending a very few drops of essential oil into a carrier oil (such as jojoba, sweet almond, coconut or sesame). This can be liberally dripped into the tub or used directly on your skin after you are freshly bathed. During this ritual, make space for self-gratitude for all that you've accomplished, all that you've dared to envision, and for creating this space for sacred ritual and intentional rest.
