As the saying goes, “it takes strength to be gentle and kind.” It reminds me of the lion, depicted in the Strength tarot card. There is no purpose or healing in forcing, coercing, or manipulating. In this card, I imagine the lion and the person who holds the lion’s mouth open are the same being. This kind of relationship with self takes time. It takes trust, and trust must be built. Most of us have somehow experienced harm towards our own willingness to trust ourselves and others, which is why the bond to self cannot be left to succumb.
Read MoreAs an air sign, this moon swoops in like a sudden gust of benevolent chaos, a wind to make a mess of your tidy, organized, self-restricting, controlled and survival-oriented thought patterns. Just because there are nice and neat stacks of papers in the corners of your mind does not mean things are orderly or even necessary to keep around. A lot of what we carry are dusty heirlooms from others, old garments that no longer fit, or art hanging on our walls of thought that, when truly appraised, we may realize do longer reflect back to us the person we now feel ourselves to be - or who we want to become.
Read MoreThanks to the energy of Cancer in both the moon and the sun, our emotions can run high and are amplified by the dark mirror of the new moon. This can be a tender time, y’all. And that’s okay. It’s complex to feel our feelings, but there is no healing without feeling. Often when we allow this natural trust fall to take place, we find many, many layers of self - until arriving at our inner child.

What is beginning to bloom and change? This is not a time to turn away from the strange and luscious garden of the self, but to nurture and support it - and of course, to do the necessary weeding, watering, thinning and pruning.
Read MoreThe New Moon is all about fresh starts, new cycles, and reflection on what has been. It's a moment to go inwards, and take inventory. Where are you thriving and what are you wishing to lean into? What have you been slacking off around and why? This isn't a time to beat yourself up or to be harshly self-critical, but to enable compassion, strength, and understanding. After all, we can't really know where we're headed unless we have some semblance of our inner road map. Plantain is a gentle guide. As you step slowly down the inner path of being, remember that you have a kindly weed on your side the entire way.
Read MoreThere is discomfort in discovery, followed by understanding and release. Surrender to it. Allow yourself to be effected from skin to soul by the medicine of the scorpions sting. This is a time of deep epiphany. Ah-ha moments may come on strong, causing spikes in our responses. Keep yourself in check, and listen to your feelings. This is a great opportunity to mend, and make amends. The key to this moment is self-witnessing through compassion.

Read MoreIt's been said that the hardest part of "awakening" is moving past our own being. As our energy builds and rises, we come to a point of higher Self-awareness. This often becomes the stopping point for so many, as they are intoxicated by their own reflection in the great cosmic whirlpool. These people often corrode, unable to turn back, and unwilling to move forward. It is in these times that we must not only begin anew, but be willing to step through to humility, even after discovering the hidden treasure.
